How to hold a sale and come back to it in UpeoRetail
When a customer is not ready to pay, UpeoRetail lets you put the sale aside and serve the next person. The held sale keeps its items, its customer and its prices. You pick it up from the Queue screen and finish it whenever they come back.
When to use this
- The customer has gone to get more money.
- They are still choosing more items.
- Their payment has not come through yet.
- They said they will come back later.
A queued sale is not a completed sale. Nothing has left your stock and no money has been counted.
Steps
1. Build the sale as normal
Add the items and the customer, as in how to make a sale.
2. Press the queue button
At the bottom of the Sell screen, next to Complete, press the queue button.
3. Give a reason
A small panel appears asking for the Queue reason. Choose one:
- Waiting for payment
- Customer picking more items
- Insufficient funds
- Customer will return
- Other
4. Confirm
Press Confirm queue. The counter clears and you can serve the next customer.
5. Pick it up again
Open Queue from the Shop menu, find the sale and open it. Everything is as you left it. Take payment and press Complete.
Held sales and unfinished sales
There are two places a part-done sale can sit, and they mean different things.
| Screen | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Queue | Sales you deliberately parked, each with a reason |
| Unfinished Sales | Baskets that were never finished, including ones saved automatically |
If you cannot find a sale in Queue, look in Unfinished Sales.
What good looks like
- The Sell screen is empty and ready for the next customer.
- The held sale is in Queue with the reason you chose.
- When you reopen it, the items and prices are unchanged.
If something goes wrong
The queue button is greyed out. The sale is empty, or you are offline. Queueing needs a connection. The message reads Queue is unavailable offline.
Your sale has vanished. Check Unfinished Sales as well as Queue.
A held sale is now wrong. Prices or stock may have moved since you parked it. Check the totals before completing, and rebuild the sale if it looks wrong.
Old sales are piling up. Queued and unfinished baskets are swept away after a while. Do not use the queue as long-term storage. If a customer really is coming back next week, take a deposit or write a quotation instead.
